The Slave Hunters is a 2010 South Korean action historical drama set in the Joseon Dynasty. It is about a slave hunter who is looking for a general who has become a runaway slave as well as the woman he loves. It ran on KBS2 from January 6 to March 25, 2010, on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 24 episodes. The series was both visually and intellectually appealing to viewers because it showed a good amount of muscle and brawn, had fight scenes that were both complicated and gritty, had crude humor, and had touching moments of sadness and humanity. Critics especially liked how director Kwak Jung-hwan used a Red One camera to give each shot a theater-worthy shine. The hit show topped the ratings chart for 7 weeks in a row, averaging 31.7 percent and reaching a high of 35.9 percent. The show was honored at the Seoul International Drama Awards and the KBS Drama Awards. Jang was also nominated for best actor at the 2011 International Emmy Awards for his performance.
