Thundera's population flee moments before the world is destroyed. A gang of mutants was after them. All but one of their escape ships were destroyed. Only a few Thunderans (Thundercats) remained. The group, lead by Jaga, had to establish a course towards the nearest planet with only 50% engine power. While the other seven were in their stasis tubes, Jaga commanded their ship. Jaga perished on the way to Third Earth, and their ship crashed. They quickly made connections with numerous factions in the area and built a fortress. Mumm-Ra, the centuries-old embodiment of evil, and the mutants who annihilated the rest of the Thunderans are a continual menace. However, Lion-O, the Thundercats' new commander, and his weapon, the "Sword of Omens," will give the Thundercats a fighting chance.
