The American serial drama TV show Vanished is made by 20th Century Fox. The first episode of the show aired on Fox on August 21, 2006, and the last one on November 10, 2006. The show is set in Atlanta, Georgia, and starts with the sudden disappearance of the wife of a Georgia senator. It soon becomes clear that this is part of a bigger plot. The missing woman's family, two FBI agents, a reporter and her boyfriend/cameraman are all drawn into a mystery that has political and religious undertones. Josh Berman, who wrote for CSI, came up with the idea for the show. Mimi Leder, who also directs the show, and Paul Redford are the show's executive producers. USA Today reported on October 26, 2006, that the planned 22-episode series was to end after the 13th episode. The story arc about finding Sara Collins was supposed to end, but a mystery about a bigger plot was left open in case the series was continued. Fox said on November 16, 2006, that the show would end in December with the last episode. The last episode of Vanished came out online on December 8, 2006. A few months before the show went off the air, the production team was told to at least find out what happened to Sara by the 13th episode. However, none of the other plots were resolved.
