When David Wilson's young wife succumbs to cancer, he is left as a single working father responsible for their sixth-grade autistic son. Patrick, or 'Po,' is a talented but challenged boy who was extremely devoted to his mother and unable to express his own sense of loss. As both father and son struggle to adjust to life without mom, they begin to withdraw into their respective worlds. David into the high-pressure job he's on the verge of losing, and Po away from the school where he's been bullied and into his magical fantasy world, the Land of Color, where he's just a typical carefree boy with a rich cast of otherworldly companions.
