A Bridge Too Far is the account of Operation Market Garden, the failed attempt by the allies to quickly finish the war by seizing three bridges in Holland and providing access across the Rhine into Germany. Due to a lack of allied intelligence and the deployment of two elite German Panzer divisions, the final phase of this operation (the Arnhem-Rhine bridge) was doomed to fail.
