A Cowgirl's Story

The new girl at Jefferson High, Dusty Rhodes, is a real cowgirl. Dusty is a real Texas cowgirl. Her mother is a helicopter pilot and her father is a Special Forces Army Ranger. Dusty is initially an outsider, but she ultimately befriends Savanah, a child whose father was killed in Iraq three years previously. The two, despite Savanah's Gothic tendencies and Dusty's cowgirl tendencies, form an unbreakable Dusty convinces the school to allow an Equestrian Drill Team and recruits her new urban buddies. With her mother fighting in Afghanistan, Dusty faces her concerns during team practice.
