A Passage to India

The story opens with the arrival in India of a British woman, Miss Adela Quested, who is accompanying her fiancé, a city magistrate named Ronny Heaslop, during a moment when the Indian independence movement is gaining ground in the British Empire. An Indian doctor named Aziz H. Ahmed comes to her and Ronny's mother, Mrs. Moore's, aid in their friendship.
