Famous Polish painter Wladislaw Strzeminski refuses to compromise on his work after Stalin's takeover of Poland in 1945. He was expelled from the University and subsequently removed off the walls of museums after being subjected to a barrage of abuse. One of his students helped him start fighting against the Party and become a symbol of an artistic struggle against intellectual dictatorship.
