Amistad
In 1839, the slave ship Amistad left Cuba and set sail for the United States from the country of Cuba. Cinque leads the slaves in an unusual insurrection throughout the long journey. They are then held in prison in Connecticut, and their release is the subject of a lot of debate. Theodore Joadson, a freed slave, wants Cinque and the others to be cleared. He hires property lawyer Roger Baldwin to help him. John Quincy Adams, too, becomes a friend.
