"Vallanzasca" is based on the true story of the most notorious outlaw of the Italian underworld during the 1970s. Born into the criminal underworld at the age of9, Renato Vallanzasca became one of the country's most prominent mob bosses before he was even 27 years of age. With a series of high-profile thefts, kidnappings, and killings, Vallanzasca and his gang took control of Milan's underworld. A popular moniker for him was 'il bel Renè,' due to his seductive demeanor and dashing good looks. Many of his audacious prison escapes infuriated the government, incensed his adversaries, and added to his mystique.
