Anguish
Tess, a young girl in a small town, struggles to cope with her insanity while adjusting to her new life with her mother. After seeing the shrine to Lucy, a hit-and-run victim, Tess is overcome with hallucinations of the deceased girl and begins to doubt her sanity once more. When the spirit takes possession of Tess's mind and soul, both mother and daughter are at a loss for salvation: religion or medicine? Both institutions have failed them thus far, but faith directs them to the home of Lucy's mother, Sarah, who has been despondent since the catastrophe. Sarah is desperate to think Lucy is still alive in Tess, but neither parent wants to give up on their daughter. Tess must ultimately decide whether to continue fighting or succumb to her condition now that she understands what is happening to her.
