Once upon a time, the same woman was responsible for the care of two children. Azur, the blonde, blue-eyed son of a noblewoman, and Asmar, the dark skinned and black-eyed child of the nurse. They fought and cared for one other as brothers do when they were younger. Later, as grown-ups, they brutally become rivals in the pursuit when Azur is haunted by memories of the mythical Djinn-fairy and goes all the way to Asmar's homeland to seek it out. Now that they've reconnected, he discovers that she's become a prosperous trader and that Asmar has joined the royal guard. Only one of the two young men can succeed in their quest to find the Djinn-fairy: Asmar.
