On the day Jean Gabin dies, a kidnapper who stole from Cartiers kills Simon Verini's wife. Simon fenced gems for a gang who robbed Cartiers; he suspects them of murder. He's framed for the theft and spends ten years in prison, writing to his 11-year-old daughter. He reunites with Marie-Sophie and the teenage thieves, seeks retribution, and is immediately caught again.
