Bang the Drum Slowly

The story of a pro baseball team in New York and two of its players. Henry Wiggen is the team's star pitcher, while Bruce Pearson is the team's everyday catcher and a teammate's friend. The off-season discovers Bruce is terminally sick, and Henry is determined to be there for him throughout his final season with the club. Throughout the season, Henry and his teammates try to deal with Bruce's looming illness while making his final year memorable.
