Bruce Wayne, who has spent years away from Gotham City feeding his lifelong fixation for justice, and Jim Gordon, who has spent his career as a cop being too honest with the wrong people in other cities, arrive in Gotham City. This couple eventually figures out how to fight back in their own unique way after going through a series of harrowing experiences about the corruption that exists in the city's streets and police department, respectively. As a result, Gotham's criminals, from the highest level to the lowest, are terrified of the shadowy figure known as Batman, and the equally heroic Gordon has been tasked with tracking down Batman by coworkers who both despise and dread him themselves. During the subsequent manhunt, both of them discover that they have a lot in common, planting the seeds for an unlikely friendship. Other friends and adversaries also contribute to the beginning of the legend.
