Brasilia, Contradictions of a New City
In 1967, de Andrade was welcomed by the Italian firm Olivetti to generate a docudrama on the new Brazilian resources city of Brasília. Created during the last half of the 1950s as well as founded in 1960, the city became part of an initiative to populate Brazil's substantial interior region and was to be the personification of autonomous urban planning, devoid of the course divisions as well as inequalities that identify a lot of metropolises. Unsurprisingly, Brasília, Contradições de uma Cidade Nova (Brasília, Contradictions of a New City, 1968) exposed Brasília to be utopic only for the well-off, replicating the exact same social troubles existing in every Brazilian city.
