Chapman's mentality is the focus of the film, which is set on the three days leading up to Lennon's murder but does not dwell heavily on the crime itself. J.D. Salinger's work The Catcher in the Rye comprises 26 chapters, and Chapman was carrying it when he shot Lennon, therefore the term "Chapter 27" suggests a continuation.
