In the early 1920s, when the UK was divided by class and religion, two young runners work hard to get ready for the 1924 Olympics in Paris. Eric Liddell is a devoted Christian who was born in China to Scottish missionaries. He sees running as a way to worship God and won't train or compete on the Sabbath. Harold Abrahams gets past anti-Semitism and class bias, but in his single-minded quest, he forgets about his beloved sweetheart.
