This movie is about the drug scene in Berlin in the 1970s, based on tapes that Christiane F. made. A typical apartment building in Berlin has a lot of floors and Christiane lives there with her mother and little sister, both 14. She is interested in the new disco called "Sound." It has all the most up-to-date equipment. She asks a friend to take her, even though she isn't legally old enough to do that. There, she meets Detlef, who is in a group where everyone is on drugs. Step by step, she gets more and more involved in the scene.
