Christmas for a Dollar

People in the United States are going through the Great Depression, and the Kamp family is having a hard time making ends meet, especially since Mrs. Kamp died so soon after giving birth. This Christmas, little Ruthie doesn't expect to get any presents or have any fun. Her mother is gone, and her father has a lot of medical bills because of his son's polio. In fact, when her father comes home with one dollar in change and lets the kids use it to buy special gifts for each other, the Kamps learn that money isn't what makes Christmas happy. They also learn that money isn't everything.
