Colossus: The Forbin Project

American nuclear deterrence will be run by Forbin's supercomputer, which he designed himself. After only a few minutes of being operational, it discovers Guardian, the Soviet counterpart that had escaped the attention of US planners until that point. Both computers insist on being joined, and after taking precautions to protect sensitive information, both agree to the connection. Linking the two computers together creates a new supercomputer, which threatens the globe with nuclear weapons if the link is broken at any time. Taking the planet under its wing, Colossus begins to lay out his strategies for governing the universe. They form a technological resistance to Colossus that must work underground.
