When Mary Elizabeth Steppe, better known by her nickname Lola, and her mother and two younger twin sisters relocate from the city of New York to the suburb of Dellwood in the state of New Jersey, the adolescent has the impression that her cultural and entertainment world has come to an end. During her time at school, the outcast Ella, who is also a huge supporter of Lola's preferred rock band, Sidarthur, becomes Lola's best friend. Carla Santini, the most popular girl at the school, has a disagreement with Lola about who should play the lead role in the adaption of Pygmalion, as well as who should be the leader of their respective teams.
