Black-and-white American short subject documentary film renowned for being Stanley Kubrick's directorial debut. Kubrick financed the film himself, and it is based on a 1949 photo piece he did for Look magazine as a photographer. On April 17, 1950, 'Day of the Fight' depicts Irish-American middleweight boxer Walter Cartier in the height of his career, on the day of a fight with black middleweight Bobby James.
