A group of armed thieves fleeing the police make their way towards the New Jersey Tunnel, where they come face to face with trucks delivering hazardous trash. The dramatic explosion that follows causes both ends of the tunnel to collapse, putting the lives of the handful of people who managed to survive the explosion in danger of being killed. As far as the survivors are concerned, Kit Latura is the only one who possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to guide them out of the tunnel before it collapses.
