When Major Bill Cage is brutally demoted and put into war, he is an officer who has never been exposed to a single day of actual combat. Cage is dead within minutes, but not before he has the opportunity to bring down an alpha alien alongside him. Because of his physical contact with the alien, he has been thrust into a time loop, and when he awakens, he finds himself back at the beginning of the same day. He is compelled to fight and die again... and again.
