Epidemic
The second film in the Europa trilogy directed by Lars von Trier. The trilogy's other two films are The Element of Crime (1984) and Europa (1991). The film, co-written by Niels Vrsel, focuses on the screenwriting process. Vrsel and von Trier play themselves, scrambling to write a script for a producer at the last minute. This narrative is intercut with scenes from the film they are writing, in which von Trier plays a renegade doctor attempting to cure a modern-day epidemic.
