Brad Sexton and his wife, Caroline, are well-to-do New Yorkers who are struggling with their marriage and their finances. When they discover that their accountant has embezzled millions of dollars and placed the blame on them, the latter issue becomes a significant concern for them. Brad and Caroline are forced to flee their home and wind up in an Amish community in Pennsylvania, where they decide to pretend as members of the religious group in order to dodge the Internal Revenue Service. As the two become more accustomed to the modest Amish way of life, they begin to reconnect.
