Set in early 2014, Poppy Wakefield is a freelance journalist who works from her home in England. Life as she thought it would be is turned upside down when she learns Stephen is having an affair. After being betrayed, she finds comfort in a TV show where George Clooney is on the show Her husband is not sophisticated, funny, charming, or someone who cares about making the world a better place. George is all of these things, and he is Poppy's ideal partner. It's the perfect time for Poppy to visit her friend Justin in LA. She takes off on a quest to meet George, who she knows will fall in love with her right away. Surprise news, on the other hand, brings Poppy's romantic fantasy back down to earth. When Poppy moves to LA, she has a lot of near misses, unrelated adventures, and colorful people to deal with. One day, fate throws her a very surprising curveball.
