Early in the 18th century. Jonathan Green, a cartographer, embarks on a scientific journey from Europe to the East. After passing across Transylvania and the Carpathian Mountains, he arrives in a little settlement surrounded by impassable woods. Nothing but chance and dense fog could have brought him to this cursed location. The folks that dwell here are unlike any other people the traveler has seen. The villagers, having created a deep moat to protect themselves from the rest of the world, share a mistaken idea that they can preserve themselves from evil, failing to recognize that evil has made its home in their souls and is waiting for an opportunity to erupt upon the world.
