Ghosts of Mississippi

The play Ghosts of Mississippi chronicles the final trial of the assassin of 1960s civil rights hero Medgar Evers, Bryon De La Beckwith. It opens with the murder and the events that transpired during the first two trials, both of which resulted in hung juries. The film then follows District Attorney Bobby DeLaughter's change and partnership with Myrlie Evers, the wife of the late Medgar Evers, as he becomes increasingly involved in prosecuting Beckwith for the third time 30 years later. Several of the characters are portrayed by the story's actual players.
