Gladiator
In the year 180, the death of Marcus Aurelius destabilizes the Roman Empire. Maximus is one of the most talented and dependable generals in the Roman army and the emperor's most important advisor. Maximus is to be executed when Marcus' treacherous son Commodus ascends to the throne. Slave traffickers seize him after he has escaped. Maximus must fight to the death with other men for the enjoyment of paying spectators after being renamed "Spaniard" and forced to become a gladiator.
