Grandview, Illinois, is a typical little town in Illinois. Tim Pearson, a high school senior, plans to study oceanography in Florida after graduation. When he meets Michelle "Mike" Cody, he is smitten. She is the owner of the Demolition Derby facility in her neighborhood. Ernie "Slam" Webster is a derby driver whose wife is cheating on him and wants to be with Mike later. Tim develops feelings for Mike, resulting in a major love triangle.
