Jim and his daughter Veronica, a young music teacher at a high school, try to figure out their complicated pasts and secrets that are tied together. After a bad prank, Jim's daughter is wrongly convicted of abusing her power over Clive, who is 17 years old. Veronica is still sure that she should be punished, but for things she did much earlier. Jim's anger and confusion about Veronica's stubbornness start to affect his job as a food inspector. He has a lot of power over small restaurants run by families, and he doesn't hesitate to use it.
