In this movie, young people are on the verge of truly growing up. They are tired of their reflexive cynicism and are trying to figure out what love and being loved are all about in their own unique way. Six New Yorkers have to deal with love, friendship, and the frightening prospect of becoming an adult all at the same time. It's a rough day for Sam Wexler, a struggling author. While on the train, Sam brings a little boy who was separated from his family back to his flat, which leads to an enriching, yet challenging friendship. People who are close to Sam: Annie, who is afraid to get married because of her self-image; Charlie and Mary Catherine, who might move to Los Angeles; and Mississippi, a cabaret singer who has caught Sam's eye and wants to meet him.
