Present-day France A professional conman poses as the boss of a construction site working on a highway extension. He defrauds the entire region, hires dozens of workers, and cynically enjoys the profits of his con until he meets the lady mayor of a small village through which the road will pass. She intrigues and unnerves him before revealing a world he never knew existed: feelings. What lengths will he go to save his victims and himself from his own lies?
