Thomas Dunn has lost faith as a result of the death of his little daughter. His life has come crashing down around him, and his self-confidence has been crushed. However, when he wakes up on this day, he discovers that Mandy, his devoted wife, is pregnant for the second time. Perhaps this is their chance to move on from the sadness of the past and for him to rediscover his faith. However, a massive alien mother-ship appears in the heavens on this day as well, and the inhabitants of Earth are immediately tortured with visions of the end of civilisation. As the mother-ship sends out a vast alien fleet to assault Earth's villages and cities, Tom and Mandy are separated. Tom must go deep within himself to find not only his faith, but also the wisdom and strength necessary to defend humanity from the monsters that threaten it. However, he must first locate Mandy, as he has discovered that their newborn child holds the key to humanity's future. The battle lines have been formed, and Earth's final stand is about to take place.
