In this inspiring story from the book of Genesis, young shepherd Jacob (Matthew Modine) falls in love with and wishes to marry Rachel (Lara Flynn Boyle), the daughter of his Uncle Laban (Giancarlo Giannini). Without a dowry, Jacob works as his uncle's indentured servant for seven years in order to win Rachel's hand. But the cunning Laban dupes him into another seven years of labor.
