Richard Harland, a young novelist, meets the lovely Ellen Berent on a train and the two fall in love and marry soon after. When tragedies take away Harland's crippled baby brother and then his unborn son, he eventually realizes that his wife's crazy jealousy may be the source of his life's tragedies. Another surprise awaits them all as Ellen's emotions spiral out of control.
