Little Voice, or LV, becomes a veritable recluse after her father's death, never leaving the house and hardly speaking. She simply sits in her room, listening to her father's collection of Shirley Bassey, Marilyn Monroe, and other great female singers' old recordings. But at night, LV sings, remarkably accurately emulating these legendary singers. One of her mother's boyfriends, who happens to be a talent agent, overhears her one night. He persuades her that her gift is unique and arranges for her to perform in a local nightclub, but there are various issues.
