1.1 billion people throughout the world survive on less than one dollar each day. How do they manage? It was the goal of four young friends to learn about and experience this reality firsthand. They travel to rural Pena Blanca, Guatemala, with nothing but a video camera and a desire to learn more about the culture. They spend only 56 dollars per person over the course of 56 days. Aside from the battle against E. Coli, they are dealing with financial stress and the knowledge that there are no simple solutions. Despite this, the kindness and strength of their neighbors, Rosa, Anthony, and Chino, provides them with a source of steadfast optimism. It is their duty to return home transformed and to share their newfound understanding with other kids, encouraging and challenging them to make a difference in their communities.
