A successful artist recalls the summer of his formative year, 1974, with fond memories. A talented but troubled 18-year-old aspiring artist befriends a brilliant elderly alcoholic painter who has turned his back on not only art but also life. The two form what appears to be a tenuous relationship at first. The child is eager to discover all of the secrets that the master has hidden within his mind and heart. Time has not been kind to the old master. His life appears meaningless to him until the child rekindles his interest in his work and, ultimately, gives him the will to live. They give each other a priceless gift by working together. The child learns to see the world through the master's eyes. And the master relearns how to see life through the eyes of innocence. This story is based on a true story.
