Long Live My Happy Head
You might not expect to find an upbeat documentary about dealing with cancer that can't be fixed, but here it is. Gordon was told he was gay eight years ago, and he started using queer comic books to deal with his fears and feelings. He uses humor to get to the heart of taboos about death and illness, and he includes many of the wonderful caregivers and nurses he meets in his expressively illustrated world. It is a long-distance love story between Edinburgh and Virginia, USA. It is sage, sweet, and stimulating. We could all learn something from Gordon about love, life, and death.
