Machuca
Santiago was Chile's capital during President Salvador Allende's Marxist government, which was widely criticized. Father McEnroe's Marxist ideas are supported by a program at the elite "collegio" (Catholic prep school) St. Patrick that allows some proletarian children free entrance. Pedro Machuca, the slum-raised son of Gonzalo Infante's liberal-bourgeois housekeeper, is one of them. Despite this, Gonzalo is adopted by Pedro's slum family and gang, and the new classmates become friends, protesting together. However, the adults sabotage it as well, not least when General Pinochet's coup detains Allende and his followers, including McEnroe.
