For three generations, the Gamache family has passed down their skills as tailors from father to son, outfitting members of the Paterno crime family. Vincent "Vince" Gamache and Giaco, Vincent's eldest son, work for the Godfather, Frank, on behalf of Frank. Vince, who is careless and impulsive, wants to earn his stripes by proving himself to the godfather. He pulls off a significant operation and gets promoted all behind the back of the Patern. Giaco finds out that Vince performed a heinous thing when he was through his stroke, and his jealousy explodes as a result. The Gamache family disavows Vince, which leads to the outbreak of hostilities.
