Maria's Lovers
Ivan Bibic returns to his Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, suburb after surviving a Japanese POW camp, which causes regular nightmares. Throughout, he remained devoted to his childhood love, fellow ethnic Yugoslavian virgin Maria Bosic. She dates him again, jeopardizing her virtual engagement to captain Al Griselli. They marry, despite Ivan's father's advice. But Ivan has become psychologically impotent, feels unworthy of her, and begins to wonder, even looking for another girl. Meanwhile, slick guitar-and-song-busker Clarence Butts moves to South-Western Pennsylvania and seduces Maria.
