To prevent assassination threats during the Joseon Dynasty, King Gwang-hae ordered his councilor, HEO Kyun, to find a doppelganger. Gwang-hae is poisoned, and HEO Kyun discovers a jester named Ha-sun who looks strikingly like the monarch. In the meantime, HEO Kyun suggests that Ha-sun take on the role of king until Gwang-hae has fully recovered, and he goes to great lengths to make sure Ha-sun looks and acts the part. It is at his first official appearance as King Ha-sun that the king begins to consider the complexities of the issues being addressed at his court. In contrast to Gwang-hae, Ha-love sun's and appreciation for even the tiniest workers gradually improves morale in the castle. However, Park, the king's main rival, detects a significant change in the king's demeanor and begins to inquire about it.
