Memories of Me

Abbie Polin (Crystal), a New York doctor, travels to Los Angeles to see his father, Abe (Lord), who works as the "king of the extras" in Hollywood. For some years, their relationship has been strained. This was Henry Winkler's first film, and much of it was shot in the MGM Studios in Culver City, California, just a few miles from Hollywood. Lisa, Abbie's romantic interest, also pays Abbie a visit and bonds with Abe, who gets along with everyone except his son. Abe starts to lose his memory and is eventually diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. He and his son become closer over time, and Abbie tries to obtain Abe a speaking role in a film before it's too late.
