Moffie
Moffie (a disparaging Afrikaans name for a gay man) tells the narrative of Nicholas van der Swart, a young man who has known since he was a child that he is different. His family and his heritage have high expectations for him, yet no matter what he does, his macho image will never be enough. South Africa's army drafted him at the age of 19 and he found the system near to its demise and yet still in full force. Long overdue is a story of the emotional and physical anguish faced by many young men during the border war against communism in South Africa in the early 1980s.
