John Gant rides into Lordsburg, cool and refined. Gant is a professional assassin, and while no one knows who he is out to assassinate, everyone is concerned. The identity of his intended victim is unknown. Everyone in town has a dubious background, and they all believe John Gant is out to kill them. While each townsperson crumbles under the weight of shame, Gant waits in the hotel, but is still blamed for the shootings and the Banker's suicide. Carol Johnson wrote the piece.
