Ryo Aihara, who is shy, quiet, and uncertain of herself, does not quite belong anyplace. Although she desires to make friends, she has difficulty speaking up and carrying on typical conversations with others. It seems like everytime she speaks, the words are not spoken properly. Ryo has become accustomed to living in silence as a solitary and introverted student. Without anybody to converse with, Ryo has no need for a cell phone. She develops a cell phone in her imagination for pretend discussions with imaginary friends, and to to her amazement, one day Shinya answers the call.
